Ido was born on Friday, August 31, 1979.
Tamar and Danny’s son. Eyal, Nir and Ifat’s brother.
Ido went to “Bialik” elementary school, then to “Sharet” high school in Netanya. He was a curious and clever boy, an excellent student who effortlessly reached high achievements. He was also active in the “Maccabi Tzair” youth movement, first as a member, then as a counselor.
Ido performed his military service in a unit that employs advanced warfare systems. His stature as a commander was shaped by his natural sense of justice, his caring, his personal integrity and inner calm.
After his army service, Ido worked for El Al, and was stationed in London. In the course of his work, he showed great responsibility, excelled at human relations, and was personally and professionally accomplished. Throughout the three years he spent in London, he took full advantage of all the city has to offer. Ido was accepted for undergraduate studies in graphic design, which he was to begin in London in September of 2004. Alongside his work, Ido continued to travel the world: South Africa, the U.S.A., Scandinavia, Vietnam and Thailand, skiing in Switzerland and France, and short trips to Italy, Belgium, Ireland, Holland, Scotland, Germany and Denmark.
And the final trip – to Iceland. Ido talked for months about this journey to see the primeval landscapes.
On the morning of June 27, 2004, Ido began a hike along the trail from Landmannalaugar to Thorsmork. In the early afternoon, the weather changed suddenly, and the sun disappeared. A thick fog covered the trail, the temperature plummeted below zero, and hard rain and blizzards raged.
Ido, who was on his way to a hut in Hrafntinnusker, lost his way.
Icelandic rescue forces set out to look for Ido.
At half past midnight, Iceland time, a few hundred yards from the hut, Ido was found lifeless.
On July 1, 2004, Ido was buried in the cemetery of Moshav Avichail.
